Uttar Pradesh, November 11, 2011: Irked over their ‘percieved’ ignorance, the All India Sunni Ulema Federation (AISUF), an organization of Bareillvi sect of Sunni Muslims, threatened to oppose Congress party in coming assembly elections of the state.
Addressing newsmen on Thursday, general secretary, AISUF, Ghulam Abdul Qadir alleged that Congress leader Ahmed Patel is a wahabi and is ignoring Bareillvi Muslims in Congress. “Ahmed Patel is against the Bareillvi Muslims and is purposely side lining them in government organisations and even in Congress party.”
Qadir threatened to launch an agitation against Congress in coming assembly elections. The organisation had recently held a rally at Bareilly and plans to organise many more such rallies to expose Congress agenda against the Bareillvi muslims.
“We have given our demands to the Congress leadership, if they are not met we will oppose the party in coming elections. It will be detrimental for them who are planning to revive Congress after two decades in the state,” said Qadri.
The list of demands include proper representation in ticket distribution, inclusion of more Bareillvi muslims in the cabinet, nominations in various government corporations, implementation of Ranganath Commission and Sachar Committee report, eautification of graveyards under MNREGA scheme and inclusion of Muslims in SC list.
