Archbishop Jala releases Guidebook on Faith by Teresa JosephKarnataka, November 1, 2012: On 25th October the Silver Jubilee of Visvadeep Institute of Faith Education and Youth Ministry was celebrated at Visvadeep Bangalore. After the solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by Most Rev. Dominic Jala sdb, Archbishop of Shillong, Meghalaya, during the cultural program the book on Basking in Faith was released by Archbishop Dominic Jala. Presenting the book Rev. Fr. Jose Mathew Kuttiayanimattathil, rector of Kristu Jyoti College Bangalore and a renowned theologian said: “the book is a very special one for the Year of Faith.”

Basking in faith is a special book for the Year of Faith. This book is a good guidebook that can help us both to reflect and to pray. Using an attractive style, anchored in the Word of God and drawing on real life experiences, Sr. Teresa takes us on a journey of faith that is enlightening and rewarding. She brings to the book her rich experience as communicator of faith.

A rose does not need to advertise for itself. So too, when we are full of God, our lives will bear witness to God. And this is what the world needs. In the words of Pope Benedict XVI “what the world is in particular need of today is the credible witness of people enlightened in mind and heart by the word of the Lord, and capable of opening the hearts and minds of many to the desire for  God and for true life, life without end” (Pota Fidei no.15).

The ‘Year of Faith’ is an opportunity given to us by God, through the Church, to reflect on the depth of our commitment to him. Basking in Faith can serve as a good companion for us as we engage in this task.
