Tamil Nadu, October 14, 2013: Thayappan, contextual evangelist was invited to speak during the Church Centenary function of the C.S.I. Church in Naduvakurichi, (Near Sawyerpuram), Thoothukkudi diocese, Thamizh Nadu, India on 23rd and 24th September 2013.
His message in the church was mis-understood by the Hindu fascist elements in the village and put pressure on the ‘Arangkavalr’ seer / priest (அரங்காவலர்) of the nearby Plilliyar (Hindu) Temple to lodge a false police complaint.
Accordingly, F.I.R. has been filed with the Sawyerpuram Police Station under Sec 153 (a) (inflicting religious conflicts) and 506/1 (Threatened to murder) of IPC, which are non-bailable. The Thoothukkudi District court has rejected his bail application. The local BJP cadres is understood to be rallying for his arrest.
This FIR is reportedly to polarise the religious communities and gain political millage.
