Uttar Pradesh, October 13, 2012: Slated to be released on October 19, Shudra The Rising is gathering huge controversy prior to its release. Pro Hindutva organizations, VHP and its youth outfit Bajrang Dal have announced that they would not let the film release in Uttar Pradesh.

The organizations have demanded both from the State Government and the Censor Board that the release of ‘Shudra The Rising’ should be stopped with immediate effect. ‘Shudra The Rising’, a film directed and produced by Sanjiv Jaisawal has become the latest target of Hindutva organizations who say that the sole purpose of the film is to divide the Hindu Society on caste lines. Speaking to reporters in the state capital, the state coordinator of Bajrang Dal, Rakesh Verma said that the film aims to divide the Hindu society on caste lines.

Verma mentioned that the promos of the film being aired on National Telivision channels contain scenes that are objectionable. He said that the issues shown in the film are no longer relevant and that in today’s modern society no such practices exist.

Verma warned that if the release of the film is not banned by the state government or the censor board, the workers of Bajrang Dal would stage protest at theatres and would also approach the court to ban the film.

Meanwhile, the Producer Director of the film Sanjiv Jaisawal clearly says that his film is not mere cinema but a mission for him. Sanjiv says that he has lent voice to those communities who could not speak against centuries of atrocities inflicted on them by the powerful upper castes.
He says that his film is not divisive but in fact makes a strong statement against casteism which is so prevalent even in today’s society.

The film Shudra The Rising which has been majorly shot in UP, now faces a scenario which it would have liked to avoid. With VHP and Bajrang Dal coming to the front against the film, it seems that Shudra The Rising’ and controversy would go hand in hand from here. (Agencies)
