Prayer makes a difference

“He has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners…” – Isaiah 61:1b, NIV

Pray for the Persecuted Church In many parts of the world, Christians live around the clock with the threat of discrimination, violence and other forms of persecution. As part of its ” Proclaim Freedom ” campaign, Barnabas Fund invites you to join in, on Thursday 1 November 2012 to intercede for our suffering brothers and sisters. As Christians around the world in different time zones will for 24 hours follow a prayer guide, each country will be lifted repeatedly to the Lord.

We, at The CSF will serialize the prayer points and persecution situations in different nations in subsequent emails. For now, we’ve mentioned below prayer points for our beloved country India and our neighbour Pakistan, seeking your special intercession, even as other prayer warriors will do so too.

India

Most anti-Christian violence in India comes from militant Hindu nationalists. Pray that our brothers and sisters will be protected from persecution and stand firm in their faith despite religious tension and adversity. Some states have passed anti-conversion laws; pray for religious freedom to be upheld in every Indian state and that Hindus who choose to follow Christ may do so without fear of punishment. Praise God for rapid church growth in recent years. Pray especially for the millions of Dalit Christians, at the very bottom of the social scale, who suffer severe discrimination and poverty.

Pakistan

Pray that the Lord will sustain Christians in Pakistan in the midst of violence and instability, especially those falsely accused of blasphemy and some in danger of execution. Pray too that the government will repeal the blasphemy laws. Pray too that the Lord will meet the needs of our Pakistani brothers and sisters as they endure poverty and persecution. Pray for Christian women and girls, that they may be protected from kidnap, rape and forced marriage to Muslim men. Ask the Lord to grant His favour to courageous Christian lawyers who work for justice for Pakistani Christians.
