Bible Society Bicentennial Mumbai Celebration

Amid a flurry of excitement, prayer, praise and worship, Bible Society of India, Mumbai Auxiliary kicked off its Bicentennial Inaugural function on Friday, November 9, 2012 at 6.30 pm at St. Andrews Auditorium, Bandra.

His Grace Mar Geevarghese Coorilos, Metropolitan, The Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church was the Chief Guest.

The guest of Honors included Dr. Mrs. Navamani Peters (National President, BSI), His Eminence Oswald Cardinal Gracias (Cardinal-Archbishop of Bombay) and Rev. Dr. M. Mani Chacko (General Secretary, BSI).  Bishop Jerry D’souza – blew the ‘chopha’ to declare open the programme.

Praise & Worship was led by Pastor. Jeremy Aarons from Community of Hope Church.  Scripture was from Braille Bible by Pastor Arun Chavan. Rev. Dr. M. Mani Chacko – The General Secretary of BSI, Ph.D (London) spoke on how to rediscover GOD and rediscover God’s mission in us. The audio visual on the BSI Presentation brought out the history of the existence of the Bible and the Bible Society. Bible Dedication prayer was led by Bishops while all the Ordained Ministers joined in unison.

The official program comprised of the release of the re-edited version of the Marathi New Testament ((RV) with Psalms and Proverbs (four varieties), History Book of Mumbai Auxillary, Advancing the Glory of God, Release of Souvenir and the Calendar 2013. The welcome Dance, Choreography, Robot & Koli Dance, Psalms Choir enthralled the audience as part of the cultural program. The program was anchored by Ms. Geeti Anand and Mr. Robert Clements. The Bi-Centenary closing ceremony will be held in November 2013 at Pune.
The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks and Prayer led by Rev. Dr. Victor Gollapalli. Auxiliay Secretary BSI. Mumbai.
