Celebrating Fifty Golden Years of Heroism, Hope and Humble ServicePope Francis ranked fourth 'most powerful' person in worldAssam, October 30, 2013: Guwahati in North East India will be the venue of the celebrations of the Golden Jubilee of the Conference of Religious India. It will be held from 6-9 November, 2013 at the Don Bosco Campus, Guwahati.

Some 500 Major Superiors from across the country are expected, many of whom have registered and are still registering to attend this well planned celebration which will be a time to celebrate, to learn from the past, envision the future and dream together.

It will be a large family gathering celebrating Fifty Golden Years of Heroism, Hope and Humble service. It will be a time of listening to challenges and inspiring models.

During these days the Major superiors will also reflect together on the meaning and priorities of Religious Life, the challenges it faces today, research findings on our situation, the role of women in Church Leadership and critical appreciation from well-informed laity and leaders of other faiths.

Experienced, competent and credible Indian religious leaders: Bro. Philip Pinto CFC (Superior General), Christian Brothers, Mgr. Thomas Menamparambil SDB (former Archbishop of Guwahati), Sr. Mary Sujita SND (former Superior General, Sisters of Notre Dame, Fr. Stanislaus Swamikannu SDB (former Provincial of Chennai), Fr. Hector D’Souza SJ (former Provincial of South Asia), Mrs. Raynah Passanha Braganza (Director, Woen’s Desk Pune Diocese), Padamshree Patricia Mukhim (Editor, “Shillong Times”), Mr. Debasish Sharma (Director of NGO Deepshiksha), Fr. Thomas Vattathara SDB, Salesian Provincial, Guwahati, Swami Agnivesh, Fr. Paul Parathazham SDB, and Fr. Joe Mannath SDB will challenge us and help us look at our situation and possibilities more clearly, and be more focused on the essentials.

CRI National President Fr. V.M. Thomas SDB and CRI National Secretary Fr. Joe Mannath SDB are all set to empower the present Religious leadership of the country and to make the event a memorable one. This will have a tremendous impact on them to effect real change in the world of religious and will empower them to be enthusiastic and daring in facing challenges they meet.

The program besides sessions by eminent speakers will also have time for interactions and sharings among the priests, brothers and sisters sections.

It will culminate with a solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by H.E. Mgr. Salvatore Pennachio, Apostolic Nuncio to India followed by a public function with religious of the region and public figures that will include messages by eminent personalities and tribal dances.

Four Books will be released during the event: 1) Thus spoke CRI – 50 years of Search and Find, 2) Innovation in Religious Life – Acts of the 2012 National Assembly, 3) A Radical Love, a Path of Light – The Beauty and Burden of Religious Life by Joe Mannath SDB and 4) A Coffee Table Book on all the Religious orders working in India with texts and photos.

The dynamic energy will be celebrative. They will leave with a feeling of accomplishment, a sense of value and the motivation to take on the issues and concerns of our world today and is bound to bring about paradigmatic changes.

On Sunday November 10, a trip to Shillong will be organized to take part in the famous Eucharistic procession in honour of Jesus, Chirst the King.
