dalit christiansTamil Nadu, May 27, 2015: A book on “Dalit Christian March towards Equality and Justice- A Socio-Ecclesial Engagement” was released by Most Rev. A. Neethinathan V.V.A Marriage Hall, Villupuram, Tamil Nadu on 27th May 2015.

A three day seminar was held on the topic Dalit Christian March Towards Equality and Justice-A Socio-Ecclesial Engagement at NBCLC, Bengaluru from 27 – 29th January 2015 organized by CBCI office for SC/BC, New Delhi. 135 Participants from Andhra Pradesh, Telungana, Karnataka, Odisha, Kerala, Rajasthan, Delhi, Punjab, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Jammu – Kashmir and from all over India gathered together in spirit and person for this seminar.

The book consists of the Papers, resolutions and program of action presented in the National Seminar The National Seminar on “Dalit Christian March Towards Equality and Justice A Socio-Ecclesial Engagement” is not merely an intellectual exercise but it leads to action plans to be taken up and implanted at the National, Regional and Diocesan levels. There is a special appeal to the religious congregations to participate in the empowerment process.

Most Rev Neethnathan the Chairperson of CBCI Office for SC/BC insisted that everyone has to stand united to eradicate the untouchability within the Church and the society and build up equality and justice in the Church.

The program was organised by Fr. Devasagayaraj secretary to the CBCI Office for Dalits and Backward classes who also authored and released the book titled Muthan which speaks about the untouchable practices within the Catholic Church.
