Religious Conversion, Separatism and Untouchability were declared as major themes of the rally. Earlier a bike rally was organized in this connection in Raipur, on 21st Dec to mobilize people and disturb communal harmony.

Christians were visably disturbed due to these unprecedented developments. An urgent meeting was called on 21st December at the Church of God to consider the situation. Leaders representing Evangelical Fellowship of India, Chhattisgarh Diocese (CNI), St. Paul’s Church (CNI), Chhattisgarh Christian Forum, Chhattisgarh Pastors & Leaders Association, Capital Pastors Fellowship, United Pastors Fellowship and Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) participated. It was unanimously decided to approach police and administration to avail adequate security to churches and Christians in the Christmas season. An application was submitted to the Collector and SSP of Raipur, seeking security to the churches and programmers of the Christian community in the Christmas season. Rally of the Dharma Sena was not mentioned in this application.

Another memorandum was submitted to the Governor, Chief Minister, Home Minister, Chief Secretary, and Director General of Police, Inspector General of Police, District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police. It was mentioned that such programmers were carried out in Dang district of Gujrat in 1999 and in Kandhmal district of Odisha in 2007, which resulted in massive loss of life and property.

The rally held on Christmas day passed off peacefully in terms of no physical loss to life, limb or property. However, threats and abuses were there galore.  The Rally passed through all the main roads of the city between 10 am to 2 pm. Earlier processions were taken out from 30 different wards of the city to converge together. The main programme was organised later at the Ram Temple premises on VIP Road. Volunteers participated in large number from all parts of the state.

While addressing the occasion, Mr. Indresh Kumar, Member of the National Executive Committee of the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) described the conversion of religion as a major problem. He said that forefathers of the Muslims and Christians were Hindus and they will have to return to their original religion. Mr. Rajendra Prasad, the In-charge of Dharma Jagran in eleven states of the country said that all the Hindus have duty to bring back such families  into their fold.

Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh, Health Minister Mr Amar Agrawal, Member of Parliament Mr Chandulal Sahu and Mararilal Singh were also present.

Accordingly, he invited a dozen of his friends who gathered at his residence on Christmas Day evening, Sunday, 25-12-2011 at about 8.30 pm. After exchange of pleasantries and a short prayer, they began their dinner. But to their utter shock their dinner had to come to an abrupt end.

Just as they were having their food, around 20 members of Hindu Jagaran Vedike led by a few hardcore activists attacked them with stones and huge wooden sticks.
