Karnataka persecution continuesKarnataka, November 29, 2012: Church Demolished and Christians Ostracized in Karnataka. Hindu extremists on 20 November, 2012 demolished Blessing Youth Mission Church at Chippagiri Gowtown village of Yellapura taluka in Karwar district. The extremists armed with clubs demolished a church after they locked up the houses of 12 Christians and threatened to kill them if they come out of their houses.

The extremists destroyed the main door, the front wall, the windows and then burned up the rubble and debris. “The cost of the damaged is estimated to be about Rs.1,50,000/- (One Hundred Fifty Thousand Rupees). We have lodged a police compliant and an investigation is going on.” Pastor Srinivasam, area representative of Blessing Youth Mission said.

Prior to this attack, the extremists have been creating trouble for the Christians for several months. Christians were not allowed to fetch water from the public well and were ordered not to clap their hands and sing aloud during worship meetings after the extremist complaint that they were making noise with their worship. “We have complied with their demands and have stopped clapping and singing during our worship services” said one church leader. However, the angry extremists continued to harass them and demolished the church. Kindly pray for the church members and peace in the area.

Pastor Beaten in Madhya Pradesh

Pastor Beaten in Madhya Pradesh Alleged Hindu extremists beat up a pastor and accused him of forceful conversion on 25 Nov in Chindwada, Madhya Pradesh. The extremists led by local leader Suresh Wagmare barged into the worship meeting of Bharatbam Pratna Bhavan Church, accused Pastor Rajkumar and his assistant Pastor Nanaswor of forceful conversion and beat them up. The extremists threatened the Christians of dire consequences if they continued to conduct worship meetings in the village in future. With the help of area Christian leaders, the police registered First Information Report against the attackers on 27 November, 2012. However, no arrest had been made when going to press.
