Jharkhand: Christians fled their village

JharkhandJharkhand, March 05, 2014: On March 5 in Pali, Ramgarh, Jharkhand, Christians fled their homes after they were beaten up, ostracized and threatened by the Hindu extremists. About 10 Christian families have left their village in fear after the Hindu extremists beat, ostracized and threatened to kill them if they continued to pray and worship Christ. Kindly pray for God’s intervention, for peace and comfort for the believers who are taking refuge in the homes of different Christians in the neighbouring areas.

 

 

UP: Pastor’s wife beaten up & daughter verbally abused

Uttar PradeshUttar Pradesh, February 23, 2014: On 23rd February, a pastor’s wife was beaten up by five Hindu extremists at Khujra, Bulandh shehar. At about 6:30 pm, five Hindu extremists verbally abused, Hannah Patel, the teenage daughter of Pastor RA Patel while she was walking on the road. Hannah ran home to her mother, Paplesh Patel. However, the extremists followed her and stormed into the Christian home and started slapping Hannah’s mother when she came to her daughter’s defense.

“They slapped Paplesh Patel about five times on her face as they continued to utter verbal abuses against her and her daughter.” Mr. Moti Lal, neighbour of Paplesh Patel said. In the meantime, Paplesh Patel’s husband, Pastor RA Patel who went to a neighbouring area to conduct a marriage meeting was alerted and he rushed home.

Chhattisgarh: Gospel meeting disrupted

ChhattisgarhChhattisgarh, February 25, 2014: Hindu extremists barged into a special Gospel meeting, and accused the pastor and believers of forceful conversion on 25 February at Khairagarh, Rajnandgoan, Chhattisgarh. The extremists barged into the second day of a special meeting conducted on 24-26 Feb at Jeevan Jyoti Ashram Church and accused Pastor Roshanlal Rawate and the believers of forceful conversion.

“The meeting was attended by about 150 people and the extremists suddenly entered the venue when we were having lunch and started to accuse me and the believers of forceful conversion.” Pastor Rawate said. The police reached the spot and took Pastor Rawate and guest speaker of the meeting, Rev. Amos Singh and eight believers to the police station for questioning. The Christians were released later that evening after the police recorded their statements. Kindly pray for religious tolerance in the state.

Chhattisgarh: Prayer meeting disrupted

chhattisgarhChhattisgarh, February 23, 2014: On 23 Febuary in Lalkhadan, Bilaspur, Hindu extremists accompanied by the local police entered into the prayer meeting and accused the pastor and believers of forceful conversion. At about 2 p.m. the extremists with the local police forcefully entered into the prayer meeting conducted in the house of a believer, Parmeshwar from Beresheba Church of God and accused Assistant Pastor Rajkaran Ratre and the believers of forceful conversion.

“About 20 believers, mostly women were praying when the extremists suddenly entered and accused the Christians of forceful conversion.” Pastor Emmanuel Banchhor, main pastor of the church said. The police questioned the participants whether they have been lured to convert into Christianity. All the believers testified that they have come to the prayer meeting by their own accord and that there was no forceful conversion. Pastor Emmanuel Banchhor and some believers were further summoned to the police station. However, after questioning, the Christians were released without any cases filed against them.

Karnataka: Pastor threatened

karnatakaKarnataka, January 17, 2014: On 17 January in Ittige Halli, Bhadravati Taluk, Shimoga, Karnataka, Hindu extremists threatened to harm a pastor if he continues to conduct worship meetings in the area. The extremists threatened to harm Pastor Yogesh from the Good Shepherd Community Church if he does not stop conducting worship meetings at his home. “The extremists said that they will attack me if I continue to conduct prayer meetings including Sunday worship meeting.” Pastor Yogesh said. After the area Christian leaders intervened, the Christians were able to conduct their meetings as usual.

 

AP: Pastor and his wife brutally assaulted

Andhra pradeshAndhra Pradesh, December 29, 2013: On 29 December in Narketpally, Nalgonda, a pastor and his wife were brutally attacked at their home, landing them in a hospital with severe injuries. At about 11:30 p.m, the wife of Pastor Nama Moses opened the door when somebody knocked asking for shelter at the church as they missed their bus.

However, the miscreants began to beat the pastor’s wife with an iron rod as soon as she opened the door. She fell unconscious on the floor after she was beaten two times on her head with an iron rod. Thereafter, the miscreants started stabbing Pastor Nama Moses with a knife as soon as he appeared. The pastor sustained a stab wound on his stomach and was stabbed nine times on his back.

“The attacked lasted for about 10 minutes and the couple were rushed to a hospital. The pastor received treatment for 15 days”, area Christian leader, Rev Franklin Sudhakar said. “It was only because of prayers and timely medication that their lives have been spared.” he added. Seven people from the Hindu Vahini were arrested in connection to the incident. Kindly pray for Andhra Pradesh and also for the full recovery of Pastor Moses and his wife.
