Chhattisgarh believers beaten for refusing to deny Christ

Chhattisgarh believersChhattisgarh, October 20, 2013: On 4 Oct in Taragoan, Lohandiguda, Bastar, the village council summoned a Christian man Tangru, verbally abused him and threatened to harm him if he did not renounce his faith in Christ. The extremists tried to strangulate Tangru when he refused to renounce Christ. However, area Christians massed up and rescued the believer.

On 21 September in Taragoan, Lohandiguda, Bastar, Hindu extremist harassed two Christian women from Divya Jyoti Church which led to one receiving hospital treatment. Hindu extremist, who goes by a single name, Maniram attacked Mitkobai and forced her to renounce Christ after he repeatedly threatened to harm her in the past because of her faith in Christ. Maniram went to the house of Mitkobai, accused her of forceful conversion and forced her to renounce Christ. However, the Christian women refused to renounce Christ and Maniram started beating her with his hands and legs and then hit her on her head with a big stone. Mitkobal started to bleed profusely and she was rushed to the local hospital where she received treatment.

Later that evening at about 7 p.m, the same extremist, Maniram attacked a Christian widow as he forced her to renounce Christ in the same locality. Maniram went to the house of Rani and forcefully took her to a Hindu temple and plan to sacrifice her to the Hindu god, “Matagudi.” However, the Christian widow was rescued by her daughter and relatives.

Worship Centre Attacked in West Bengal

West Bengal ChristiansWest Bengal, October 20, 2013: On 2 Oct in Keshabnagar, Mursidabad, alleged Muslim fanatics poured acid on the padlocks of the main doors of Believers Church’s worship centre as they tried to melt and break the main doors with a steel rod. “The incident took place the day before we plan to have an all-night prayer service” Pastor Bashir Ali said. Few years ago, a group of miscreants threw stones on the windows panels of our worship centre and broke all the glasses of the panels, he said. Most of the padlocks are not working properly. The Christians are planning to put barbed wire around the boundary walls of the worship centre and steel plates on the window panels instead of glasses.

Pastor Beaten Up in KarnatakaKarnataka, October 20, 2013: Hindu extremists beat up Pastor Hemachandra Hegal from Gypsy Church , disrupted the Sunday worship and accused him of forceful conversion. The incident occurred on 27 Sept, when the extremists barged into the prayer meeting, accused Pastor Hegal of forceful conversion, beat him up and his wife Elizabeth and locked the church from outside. Thereafter, the police reached the spot, took the pastor and his wife to the police station and forced them to sign on a blank sheet that they will not continue with Christian activities in the area. The police also asked them to vacate the area within 24 hours and further warned them they will not be held responsible if anything untoward happen to them, reported our correspondent. The extremists had also stopped the previous Sunday meeting and chased the believers away.

Church Construction Burned Up in Karnataka

Church Burnt in karnatakaOn 28 Sept in Tiptur, Tumkur district, suspected Hindu extremists set a church construction on fire and the damage is estimated to be around rupees 15 lakhs. The Believers Church was set ablaze at about midnight and the police have registered an FIR against the attackers. “There are about 30 church members and we were hoping to occupy the new building by next month” said Pastor Aneef, at whose rented house the church meets.
