Hindus Seek Ban on Benny Hinn programmeBangalore, January 04, 2013: Various Hindu organisations including the Hindu Jana Jagruthi Samithi and Sri Rama Sene are strongly opposed to the January 15  programme of America’s controversial Christian evangelist Benny Hinn at Yalahanka in Bangalore. A delegation of the organisations met Bangalore Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar and submitted a memorandum to him with a request to ban the programme.

The delegation included Chandru Mogera of Hindu Jana Jagruthi Samithi, Shivakumara Reddy of Sri Rama Sene, Poornima Prabhu of Sanathana Samsthe, Devadas, advocate, Shivakumar Hiremutt, social worker, Sunil Kumar, Raghavendra Raju of Youth For Nation and others.

The organisations pointed out that Benny Hinn was visiting India on a tourist licence and as per rules no individual who arrives by a tourist visa can address public meetings. In the year 2005, the then Dharam Singh government permitted had permitted Benny Hinn programme by violating rules.

They have also questioned how the Government was permitting such programmes at a time when it was all set to encore an Act against Superstitions.
