Pray for the Persecuted ChurchHow faithful would your church attendance be if you could be arrested or killed for attending?

This “decision” is made by tens of thousands of Christians around the world each Sunday.

Most believers today, especially in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, face growing and unrelenting persecution.  In fact, the persecution of Christians is at an all time high.

November 9th marks an “international day of prayer for the Persecuted Church.”  It is an annual event whereby Christians around the world “remember the persecuted.”

Someone once said, “some can give; few can go; all can pray.”

Please take a moment to mark “day of prayer for the persecuted” on your busy calendar.

Here are a few suggestions for prayer:

  • Pray that God would change the hearts and minds of those who kill and persecute Christians.  Pray for a “Saul to Paul” conversion for those who are — right now –torturing, killing, kidnapping, and imprisoning innocent Christian men, women, and children.
  • Pray for the release of Christians in prison for their faith in places such as North Korea, Iran, China, Vietnam, Laos, Burma, and elsewhere.
  • Pray for the genocide of Christians to stop in Iraq and throughout the Middle East.
  • Pray for the millions of believers who suffer persecution under Islamic or Communist regimes.
  • Pray for “peace the passes all understanding” for millions of believers who live day to day under constant threat of death throughout the Islamic World
  • Thank God for sending us His Son.
  • Thank God for His Holy Spirit.
  • Thank God for the pain, suffering, and persecution that draws us closer to the cross and to Him.
  • Ask God for His Will to be done for our persecuted brothers and sisters.  Ask God for His Will to be done in our lives.
  • Ask God to show us how to respond to the needs of other believers.
  • Ask God to forgive us our sins and be more like Him.
  • Ask God to make us a better servant of His and to others.
  • Thank Him for prayer.
