U.S., July 12, 2016: Former Republican contender for the US presidential nomination Jeb Bush has appeared to blame Pope Francis for the rise of Donald Trump, The Christian Post reports.

In an interview with MSNBC, Mr Bush said he was “disappointed he didn’t break through” as it would have been “an extraordinary time to serve as president.”

He criticised the media’s coverage of Mr Trump, saying: “I’m not sure in the environment that we were in in 2016 – partially created by this larger than life character, partially created by, frankly, the media’s coverage of him that blocked out the sun effectively for anybody else – [if anything would have made a difference]. I spent most of my time doing press interviews commenting on what Donald Trump said.”

But Mr Bush also accused the Pope of “intervening in American politics” because of his comments about immigration – a major issue in the Republican race – and his holding a Mass on the border between the US and Mexico attended by hundreds of thousands of people.

“The Pope intervening in American politics didn’t help,” Mr Bush said, referring to the Mass the Pontiff said at the US-Mexico border just before the South Carolina primary — highlighting a hot-button issue for Trump, who has vowed to build a wall there.

“[The Pope] was talking about basically open borders at a time when the whole Trump phenomenon was to build a wall and make Mexico pay for it. [The Pope] literally goes to the border for a massive Mass,” Mr Bush said. “I don’t think he should be intervening.

“The news cycle was dominated by that. Trump, to his credit, was very smart at exploiting these kind of opportunities,” Mr Bush said.

“You’re a Catholic blaming the Pope?” interviewer and former Bush staffer Nicolle Wallace asked.

“No, no, I’m not blaming,” Mr Bush said with a laugh. “I mean, [I had] been talking about basically open borders at a time when the whole Trump phenomena was to build a wall and let, make Mexico pay for where he goes — literally goes to the border for a massive Mass.”

He added, “And he had every right to preach the Gospel there. But I don’t think he should be intervening. I don’t know if he understood that he was intervening in our political affairs.”

I believe Mr Bush needs to go back to history which were the root problems of today. what are his views about his father’s involvement in the Iraq war? There would be no refugees if nations were not greedy for power and exploit other countries by force starting with slavery and leading to monetary gain to what is today – an economic decline and conflict. todate discrimination exists in the country and Mr Bush has been silent.

we need a prophetic pope and today when we have so much happening the world over staring from the famine in brazil and argentina with olympics in its true colours knocking at the door of rio with its depleted excellent indian players, with no hopes of even winning a bronze medal with the exit of key defender in birendra lakra; look at the dignity with which the transfer of powers was , conducted by the pm david cameroon and tereasa may which ruled the whole world once upon a time . .we are witnessing the new regime in great britain . can we have peace as promised in our scriptures . the catholic tradition shall surely lead us to the right path is my humble prayer today for all our office bearers lay and clergymen too in the asian bishop commission and also the commission of tribal bishops .hopefully we can have a channel dedicated to music from shillong and also from chotanagpur mingling with the thunderous gong of the budhist temples in tibet before china comes calling . let us pray for china was the message sent by mother tereasa when we celebrated the silver jubilee of the charismatic movement in india .let us pray the rosary with mother mary for the intentions of the holy father .

Frankly speaking, it is good when people speak out. Jeb Bush has a right to say what he is thinking. We should not really worry when people speak out against the pope, or against Christ, or against God. Truth shall always prevail, in the end. Neither Francis, nor Christ, nor God Himself would be hurt by Bush’s evaluation of the situation. I am of the opinion that we defenders of the Faith sometimes make more about what others write (e.g.,Dan Brown) or about films made, or about speeches delivered which are not to our liking or because they are down right lies. Truth shall always prevail, and we do not need all or some to stand in protest. Our aim is to show the world by living exemplary lives that we stand for good, and that we stand for God. If we keep on retaliating every time some one writes or says something displeasing or dishonest, we are only playing into the hands of mischief makers or misinformed poeple.
