It is in solidarity with the Hunger Strike that began on 25th July 2011 in Delhi, Christians at Khandwa district held a peace rally to demand scheduled caste status for Dalit Christians and Dalit Muslims.  The rally started at 1.30 p.m. on 25th July 2011 at the center of Khandwa town, Kevalram Petrol Pump circle and reached the Collectorate at 3.00 p.m.  About 500 lay people, pastors, priests, religious, and youth participated in the peace rally.  On behalf of all the Christian communities, the bishop of Khandwa Diocese, Most. Rev. A.A.S. Durairaj submitted the memorandum to our Honorable President of India through the District Collector.     We hope and pray that our peace rally, hunger struggles, and other peaceful efforts may impel the Union Government to take appropriate steps to include Dalit Christians and Dalit Muslims in the Schedule Caste list and uphold the principles of Secularism and Freedom of Religion.
