Sangh Parivar stops New Year Eve Prayer Service in North Kanara

Karnataka, January 03, 2011: Pastor P.R.Jose is in charge of Karnataka Calvary Fellowship Church in Ganeshgudi, Joyida Taluk of North Kanara in Karnataka, and he has been catering to the needs of about 70 members of his church during the last 13 years. He lives with his wife and two children. As thanksgiving and a preparation for ushering in the new year, he had organized a prayer service on the new year’s eve, Saturday, 31-12-2011 at his church and almost all the members of his church were present for the service.

Just when the congregation was fully immersed in the prayer service, about a dozen Sangh Parivar activists led by one Biju Nair and his friend Venkatesh, forced themselves into the church and ordered them to stop their prayer service. They individually questioned them and began hurling abuse at them alleging that they were involved in fraudulent and forcible conversion of Hindus to Christianity. Then they also sent for the police from the Ramnagar Police Station about 15 Kilometres from Ganeshgud. After some time two police constables came to the place and joined the Sangh Parivarists in harassing the believers and threatening them with dire consequences if they continued with their conversion work. After forcing the believers to stop the prayer service, the policemen ordered the pastor to come to the police station the next morning and went away with the Sangh Parivarists.
