Sharia Law to be Enforced in Nigerian State

Nigerian ChristiansNigeria, October 15, 2013: Islamic police in northern Nigeria’s Kano state will begin enforcing Sharia law. Ten thousand officers will be making sure all citizens, including Christians, adhere to the strict Islamic legal code.  Anyone wearing “indecent dress” such as sleeveless T-shirts and pants that cut off just below the knee will be arrested. They’ll also be watching the city’s small, motorized rickshaw taxis for men and women traveling together.

  • Pray that God would bring revival to Nigeria

Christian Sentenced to 15 Years Hard Labor in North Korea Sees Mother

North Korean ChristiansNorth Korea, October 14, 2013: A Christian named Kenneth Bae has been held in prison in North Korea for the past 11 months. Since August he has been held in a hospital due to his terrible health conditions. He was finally allowed to see his mother over the weekend and the two wept as they embraced.

  • Pray for the quick healing and recovery of Kenneth while he is in the hospital
  • Pray the North Korean government will listen to the international community and free Kenneth
  • Pray for strength and resilence for persecuted brothers and sisters in North Korea

Pakistan Christians Threatened After Mourning Suicide Attack Victims

Pakistan ChristiansPakistan, October 13, 2013: The two suicide attacks that took place in Peshawar, Pakistan are the largest single attack on Christians in the country’s history. Now the persecution has continued as families and friends of those killed in the bombing are receiving threats because they are “openly expressing grief” over the loss.

  • Pray for strength and resolve for Christians who are facing persecution in Pakistan
  • Pray the Christians who are experiencing threats will have the love and forgiveness of Christ
  • Pray that friends and families of the victims of the suicide attacks will be able to mourn in peace

Christian Churches, Schools, to be Demolished by Muslim-Dominated Government

Nigerian ChristiansNigeria, October 10, 2013: Nigeria’s Muslim-led Borno state government has marked certain areas of Nigeria for demolition, in order to “make room for new buildings.” But those areas are populated by the Christian minority, and contain schools and churches.

  • Pray that God would provide a miracle and stop the destruction of the schools and churches
  • Pray for the safety and protection of Christians in Nigeria who are forced to move
  • Pray that Nigeria would stop its persecution of Christians and religious minorities

Chinese Christian Rights Activist Released from Prison

Chinese ChristianChina, October 09, 2013: Ni Yulan is perhaps one of the most driven Christian human rights activist in China today. A little over ten years ago she was beaten and tortured by prison guards so badly that she was left permanently disabled and unable to walk without assistance. Last week Ni Yulan was released from prison after completing a two-and-a-half year sentence.

  • Praise God that he delivered Ni Yulan from prison
  • Pray that Ni Yulan’s work for religious freedom will ignite a fire for other Christians to stand up for their rights
  • Pray for revival in China

Islamic Extremism Continues to Rise in Bangladesh

Bangladesh ChristiansBangladesh, October 07, 2013: Police in Bangladesh recently discovered that a Madrassa in the Chittagong area was used to manufacture bombs. Some of these bombs exploded on Monday, killing one and injuring six others. The Madrassa, similar to the ones to which Christian children were trafficked to (and rescued by ICC), was run by an “Islamic fundamentalist group that is very active in Bangladesh.

  • Pray the ones responsible for the explosion will be arrested and be prosecuted
  • Pray that the government will provide protection for Christians and religious minorities in Bangladesh
  • Pray against the violent actions of the Islamic fundamentalist group
