October 16, 2012: On the morning of 14 October 2012 Pastor Lal Mani along with his family was getting ready for the Sunday worship when a group of 10 people came to his house and began to abuse him and his family. In the heat of the argument these anti-social element began to physical abuse pastor Lal Mani and his family. Lal Mani sustained 18 stitches on his head and his wife, son and daughter were beaten with lathis and rods.

Pastor Lal Mani called the Police Control Room (PCR) which dispatched the nearby PCR Van, which took him to the Balmiki hospital in Bawana. Pastor Lal Mani was later discharged after being administered the necessary medical aid. The Shahbad dairy police station, under whose jurisdiction the case falls, refused to register an FIR on the same day. It was alleged that police took money from the accused. The police harassed Pastor Lal Mani by calling him to the police station time and again.

According to EFI correspondent, Rev. Jonathan Singh, “After the intervention of Aaj Tak TV channel, Metro Vihar Police Chowki registered an FIR under the following sections of CRPC: 332 / 341 / 34 / 506. The police refused to give the pastor a copy of the FIR. Again, after Aaj Tak TV Channel highlighted the apathy of the police, they gave him a copy of the FIR”.

The same anti-social elements have harassed Pastor Lal Mani in the past as well.

Kindly pray for Pastor Lal Mani.
