Persecuted Pastors Conference in Gadag

Karnataka, October 12, 2012: The All India Christian Council ( aicc ) held a well-attended conference for persecuted pastors and Christians on 21st September at Gadag, Betageri district of Karnataka. This district was one of the most affected by the communal forces even to date. Several times over the years and particularly this year there have been repeated attacks on the Christians here. In this context it was very meaningful to have Persecuted Pastors and Christians conference.

According to Pr. Francis, one of the organisers helping to coordinate the conference, “over 500 People attended it from all over the district, comprising 15 different denominations and churches. One of the highlights of the conference was to honor and pray for over 20 Pastors and Believers who are being persecuted this year. They all felt that it was worth to suffer for Christ, most of them have expressed their thankfulness for remembering them in their suffering. One of them said ” your kind action has given me great added strength to face the reality of persecution in the future “.

A group of resource persons and experts traveled from Bangalore and other far off places. An Solomon had come from Yadgere. There were also visitors who participated in the conference and said that they were very much encouraged by the activities of aicc. Brother Moses Vattapalli from Hyderabad was present all through the programme.

Mr. Kumar Adagal, a prominent Christian leader and retired college professor said that this conference was one of the best organized and a timely for community facing persecution in the region . He added that all the pastors and Christians who benefited from it were grateful all the organizers and sponsors of the aicc.

In the evening under Operation Mobilization (OM) banner, a Festival of Prayer and Blessing was organized to worship and thank God for His mercy and benevolence. Rev. E D Chelladurai and Rev. Johnson V led the gathering into praise and thanksgiving. Of the hundreds, who gathered, it is reported that 50 persons accepted the LORD and equal number of people re-dedicated themselves to be of service to HIM, for whom special prayers were held. The next conference is being planned for Hubli in North Karnataka for which aicc solicits prayerful support.
