Two churches attacked in Karnataka

Bengaluru, July 14, 2016: In two separate incidents of church attacks youth hurled petrol bomb at a church in Bengaluru today early morning, while unidentified assailants tried to set on fire a church in Tumkur town of southern Karnataka.

According to the Bengaluru police, the attackers were caught on CCTV cameras hurling petrol bomb at the church boundary wall.

Soon after the incident church authorities rushed and doused the blaze. Later, they lodged a complaint with the local police and have sought protection.

Investigating officers are going through the CCTV recording to identify the men involved in the attack.

A police picket has been deployed near the area to prevent any untoward incident.

In southern Karnataka, the criminals poured kerosene on the door of the Tomlinson church in Tumkur and tried to set it on fire. The blaze did not spread beyond that and caused only minor damages.

The attack took place at 4 a.m., and the police were informed soon after. Tumkur town, officially known as Tumakuru, is the headquarters of the Tumakuru district in southern Karnataka.
