Worship stopped in Rajasthan November 2, 2012: In an apparently pre-planned attack on 30th October in Jawar, Jaipur, Rajasthan, Hindu extremists shouting anti-Christians slogans barged into the worship meeting of Emmanuel Church and hurled abuses against the Christian women. The extremists accused the Christians of cheating people by Christian activities and stopped the meeting conducted by Pastor Sinly Abraham. The police arrived at the church almost at the same time with the extremists. who however were mute spectators of the whole scene.

“We asked the police to help us but they refused saying that they do not have enough strength to handle the situation and ordered us to close down the meeting” Pastor Abraham said. The Christians submitted a police compliant and an investigation is going on.

Worship stopped in KarnatakaThe police detained six Christians after armed Hindu extremists mounted an attack against a three day Christian fasting prayer meeting which resulted in the hospitalization of five Christians on 27 Oct in Davanagere district of the India’s southern state of Karnataka.

According to reports, alleged Hindu extremists with wooden clubs and stones attacked the meeting of Divine Healing Ministry Church led by Pastor Rajashekhar and ordered them to switch off the mikes alleging that their mikes were disturbing them and that they were also forcibly converting Hindus to Christianity.

About 15 believers’ sustained injuries and five were admitted in Chagateri Government Hospital. In the meantime police arrived at the venue and began inquiring into the complaint lodged against the Christians by the extremists.

The police filed a case against Pastor Rajasekar and his daughter Daisy under sections 153 of the Indian Penal Code, who were absconding. When the police could not find the pastor and his daughter, they took six church members to the police station and detained them for three hours.

After the intervention of the Karnataka Legal Aid Cell, the Christians were released without any cases filed against them. However, the police are waiting to arrest Pastor Rajasekar and his daughter.
